I am ecstatic you are here! Let's build the community connections together.
Portal messaging to get a clear path for your museum growth.
You are looking at an under-utilized part of your space and thinking, "What can be done to bring people in?" As a volunteer have you felt you plateaued on some skills interacting with guests? Is there a new exhibit and you are trying to piece together how it can be incorporated into your tour?
There is an issue, you cannot dedicate time to a meeting. You are the one greeting visitors. Our time zones may not match for a meeting. We will be messaging for thirty days. I will be communicating with throughout the thirty days, bringing an additional perspective to your museum growth.
Let's champion your ideas and voice!

This partnership is great for organizations who want:
Debrief and solutions for children's play area or children's programming
Debrief and solutions for children's play area or children's programming
See how to implement a new exhibit into your existing tour.
Work out the details of a self-guided tour.
Strategize how as a volunteer leader how to streamline communication with your group.
Yes, this sounds like the Reference Desk. The difference is we are messaging regularly for thirty days through my customer portal, Kitchen.co.
This program is not best suited for:
You need to create a school tour. These meetings are for up to two stations or tour stops. If you need a program created try tour creation.
Group messaging. For consistency I will be messaging one person. You can of course share with your employees, but we do not want to a volley of conversations with multiple people.
Adminstration, curatorial, and financial chats. These are not in the scope for Museum Extraordinary.
After The Wayfinding Station you will have:
Staff who will have more time to focus on other aspects of your museum. You are not stuck in a virtual meeting. You can message when the time works for you.
Staff and volunteers having focused conversations with guests. It will be less meetings for you so you can get other items done in between messages.
Enthusiasm from your youngest guests during family events. Events that we work with together will encourage children to learn through play and creativity.
Let's amplify the strengths you bring as a staff member or volunteer to your organization!

I accept submissions on a rolling basis. You will hear back in 2-5 business days with a contract or follow-up questions. The contract proposal sent via email is valid for five days. Contract and payment must be completed before work is performed.
02
Regular Communication begin!
On the client portal you and I will message away! Any photos or videos should not have people in it I will message back regularly, 2 business days max wait. The longer wait may be if I am creating a video for you to see the approach or tool that can be used.
03
Regular Messaging Concludes
We have thirty days of strategy and goal-oriented messaging! If day 30 is on a weekend or a US federal holiday it would be the following business day. I will continue to support for the particular project or need and my time clock for response is 2-5 business days.
Price for both meetings:
$120- price includes taxes
You will receive an agenda 24 hours before your first meeting. The scope and goals you choose when booking.
Refund policy: The program is fully refundable 5 days from time of purchase. Please email mel@museumextraordinary.com and the payment should be back into your account in 10 business days.
You will have support after the thirty days, but it must be in the scope of the original project. Ex. You may ask follow-up questions about a strategy or tool I discussed about during our second week communicating about a family event. You cannot ask me to help plan a separate event. The time clock for my response would be 2-5 business days.

Who will I be working with?
Hey! I am Melissa and I have volunteered at history museums since 2006.
Hey! I am Melissa and I know that when you are volunteering or working sometimes you need a listening ear and then solutions. You don't need anything too grand but someone to help with a quick tour modification or a way to improve your volunteer skills.
For several years I was volunteering and classroom teaching at the same time, I realized sometimes trying out and changing just small components of a lesson or tour stop made a huge impact. These solutions will be custom to what you. Thank you for everything you do for your community!
One plus for the portal chats, if we are meeting and a delivery driver who my dog does not approve of walks by you will not hear her.
Have I Created Any Questions?
What kind of museums do you serve?
The programs and products are best for organizations that want to increase student and family connections. Aquariums, nature centers and zoos are welcome to join if your tours and exhibits are station-based, I am happy to help!
What is the turn-around time?
You will receive the deliverable 24 hours before our first meeting. This will give you time to see if there are any questions I created. There may be a delay if materials are not sent in step one.
Do you limit the types of museums or volunteers you work with?
If your organization has any live animals in your care, there must not be any incidences of harm or neglect to the animals.
For organizations and people working with history and science I develop and discuss topics that are historically and scientifically factual.
What if we don't have a large staff?
No worries! Let Borrow Your Cubicle Services can be a great way for you to hand me a hat or two. If you are a large museum staff you may find the collections helpful and the Reference Desk a great resource!
What are ways of support?
For 1:1 services have one hour meeting and a half hour follow-up to make any amends and for me to officially send the single-use license to you. For shop and general inquiries you can email mel@museumextraordinary.com I will try to get back to everything in 3-5 business days.
Do you work with youth volunteers or court ordered volunteers?
Unfortunately, since labor laws for children vary amongst states I would defer to the volunteer policies of your local museums. For court orders you would need to work with your legal team what is best for your volunteering.
I do have an overview and safety checklist for you to view. Hope that helps!
What is the refund policy?
You can receive a receive a full refund if you email mel@museumextraodinary.com within 5 days of purchase. You then will receive your refund through the credit card used in 10 business days. After 5 days of purchase, the service is not refundable.
In addition to the care of live animals and as well as following historic and scientific facts I need to discuss below a tough topic but one I find important.
Tough topics may be discussed at your organization, and they are important to share. You do at times have to teach and learn about tough topics to become better people. I will always form tour and training materials to honor victims and anyone who is oppressed in the time period or region your museum covers.
I will not work with an organization who has in their exhibits or archives people who were collected as trophies. Those people need to be repatriated, and I do not provide that service.
Let's work together from modify tours to creating early childhood events.

If meetings would be best to serve your goals
The Reference Desk
We are collaborating virtually for one hour and then a thirty minute debrief about two months later. These meetings are focused to meet your needs whether it is amending a tour, working on your individual volunteer skills, or you are a volunteer leader and need a plan to help your group thrive at events.
